CANCELLED: CIDETEC Nanomedicine’s strategy to boost innovation in biomedicine

In 2018, CIDETEC created the Nanomedicine Institute to promote innovation in the biomedical field. To this end, an innovation strategy was designed to transform its patented technologies on biomaterials into value-added products that can reach the market. Dr. Loinaz will present some examples of how this strategy is being implemented. The biomaterials group has developed drug delivery systems to increase the residence time of active pharmaceutical ingredients when administered by inhalation into the lungs. This technology is being applied to the formulation of antibiotics to be administered topically into the lungs for the treatment of chronic infectious diseases. Other innovation projects on ophthalmology and traumatology will be presented. In this case, CIDETEC is applying their knowledge on hydrogels and bioactive coatings to generate a new generation prosthesis. Finally, Dr. Loinaz will present a research activity on the development of non-viral vectors for gene therapies.
