Exploring the relationship between environmental noise and children’s cortisol levels / 3D printing: transversal concept in health care.

Environmental noise is a ubiquitous form of urban exposure and is considered a major environmental risk factor for public health. However, children are often underrepresented in research, and there is limited evidence on its effects among this subpopulation.

To understand the impact of environmental noise on health, it is essential to explain the noise reaction model, and the stress reaction caused by noise play a key role in the mediation between environmental noise and health. Cortisol, a key hormone in this process, is frequently used as a stress biomarker because it is involved in responding to acute and chronic biopsychosocial stressors.

However, the scientific literature on the effects of noise on children´s cortisol levels is scarce. In this seminar we will summarize and discuss existing evidence in the topic and offer some reflections on future research directions.

La impresión 3D se ha convertido en una tecnología que se está consolidado en el ámbito sanitario. La Plataforma Multidisciplinar de Impresión 3D (3DPP) del Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Biogipuzkoa forma parte de las Plataformas de Biobancos y Biomodelos del Instituto de Salud Carlos III. La Plataforma 3DPP promueve el uso de la impresión 3D en el hospital de forma transversal desde el Servicio de Pediatría trabajando el concepto de humanización, pasando por el Servicio de Rehabilitación hasta la creación de modelos 3D para la formación del personal médico.

A su vez, a nivel de investigación la presencia de la tecnología 3D por medio la impresión 3D de materiales biocompatibles con células (biotintas) y organoides está calando dentro de las diferentes líneas de investigación.
