Apoyo a convocatorias de proyectos europeos 2024
Durante la presentación se hará un resumen de la situación actual de los proyectos europeos en Biogipuzkoa y las perspectivas para el nuevo año. La tendencia está siendo positiva durante los últimos 2-3 años, y esa tendencia se espera que se afiance en 2024. Para ello se contará con algunas medidas de apoyo, como el soporte de la consultora Zabala y otros incentivos por parte de la Dirección de Biogipuzkoa. El objetivo es animar a los investigadores a presentarse a programas europeos.
The Role of Mitochondrial Energy Metabolism in the Pathogenesis of Polycystic Liver Disease: A New Therapeutic Strategy
Polycystic liver diseases (PLDs) are inherited genetic disorders marked by progressive development of intrahepatic, fluid-filled biliary cysts, which are a main cause of morbidity. Chronic administration of somatostatin analogs, aimed to reducing elevated intracellular cAMP levels in cystic cholangiocytes, is the current pharmacological treatment for advanced disease, but offers limited benefit. PLD-causing genes induce abnormal proteostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress in cholangiocytes, promoting cystogenesis. Given the connection between the ER and mitochondria through the mitochondria-associated ER membranes (MAMs), our main is to investigate mitochondrial dynamics, bioenergetics, and metabolism in cystic cholangiocytes, their interplay with the ER, and the therapeutic regulatory value.
