SUMMARY:Smart RNA Delivery to Treat Eye Disease
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Leblond has been a senior researcher at INSERM since 2019 and heads the ARNA Lab\, where she leads the Targeted Aptamers\, Medicines and Sensing group. Her background combines a strong foundation in chemistry with extensive experience in pharmaceutical sciences\, focused on the development of advanced drug and gene delivery systems.\nHer research focuses on the design of intelligent therapeutic delivery systems using lipid nanoparticles—similar to those used in mRNA vaccines—and aptamers\, DNA or RNA sequences capable of recognizing specific targets in the body with high affinity and selectivity.\nBefore joining ARNA\, she was an associate professor at the University of Montreal\, where she developed pH-sensitive lipid nanoparticles for the efficient intracellular delivery of drugs and genetic material\, one of the major current challenges in nanomedicine.\nCurrently\, her group is working on the development of multifunctional nanocarriers that integrate molecular design\, physicochemical characterization\, and biological evaluation\, with the aim of advancing toward clinical applications. This is an excellent opportunity to learn firsthand about cutting-edge advances in nanomedicine and RNA-based therapies.

SUMMARY:B-cell responses in vaccination and cancer immunity
DESCRIPTION:Immune challenges trigger the development of B-cell responses\, leading to the production of high-affinity antibodies that promote pathogen elimination and protective immunity. These responses typically take place in secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs)\, but can also arise ectopically within tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) under pathological conditions such as cancer. \nB-cell responses are tightly regulated over time by multiple mechanisms\, including antigen persistence and cellular activation. We have explored the role of a specific stromal cell population\, follicular dendritic cells\, in supporting B-cell activation upon vaccination\, as well as the effects of novel cancer immunotherapies\, such as 4-1BB agonists\, on the regulation of B-cell responses in SLOs and TLSs. This work provides key insights for guiding the design of future vaccines and combinatorial cancer therapies. \nWe are currently exploring in greater depth the function and development of TLS-associated B-cell responses in lung cancer\, where their presence is associated with improved patient outcomes.
